how can it already be january 11th??
Dear Blog,
I apologize for not keeping you updated on the events that make up my life. I do feel bad about it, but you must understand that I've been oh-so busy. Between Christmas, New Years and everything that's followed, I'm amazed that I'm still awake and healthy at this hour! Instead of going into great detail about everything, here is a quick summary of my life in the past month...
*Meg and I had Amy and Katie over, and we baked some yummy cookies! Ginger molasses cookies and Cherry Flips (sans Cherry)...mmm! We went to see Supertonic do their thing....I had a fantastic English Toffee steamed milk and had fun rummaging through Katie's purse. Hehe. Afterwards, us girls invited the guys back to our place for fresh baked cookies and Kahlua and milk. Yum!
*I went out for sushi and saw the Picasso exhibit at the Vancouver Art Gallery with some old coworkers of mine (Sergio, Sarah & Andria). It was tres fun...and it only made me wish I could hang out with the old gang more often :(
*I worked almost everyday - with my one day off in a stretch of nine, being my work Christmas party! Unbelievable. The work party was great though! We went out to the Mongolian Grill on Denman for dinner (yum!), and then got down 'n' dirty at Tonic later on. Yay for the store party fund paying for shots! Heeheehee.
*Meg and I went to my mom's place for Christmas Eve. We spent most of the evening alone (and unimpressed), but had a great time opening gifts with my mom and sister on Christmas morning. I got a dustbuster! and an electric mixer! and much other fabulous things. *grin* Meg gave me a pair of earrings that have green stones in them...I swear I wear them at least 5 days a week! I love 'em! Christmas dinner was had at my Aunt Nancy and Uncle Jim's house. So great to see the whole extended family. We had yummy food, the dessert that I brought was a success, I managed to say no to the wine (long story, lol), and we had several fun games of pool! And most importantly: Meg had a great time with my family, despite not being with hers. Yay!
*Jenny, Katya, Meghan and I all met up for a lil' end of the year dinner. We went to Steamworks and had some great food...and even better drinks! We were all impressed with the hotness that our waiter was....although I still think he was way too young for us to be thinking dirty thoughts about...ahem. We did our Christmas gift exchange, played a fun game (the "Christine is a Bitch" category kicked ass!!!), took some hilarious and poignant photos, annnnd.....once again, we each made a list of our crazy resolutions! I can't say what mine are for this year...but let's just say I've already completed one of them, SCORE! LOL.
*I went to see The Town Pants do their annual New Year's Eve EVE show at the Buffalo Club. Ohhh...that was quite the night. Quite possibly one of the craziest Pant shows I've ever been to. I mean, how often to 4/5 of the 'regular' Pant show girls make out with random guys at the SAME show? I mean, maybe the halfway to St.Patrick's Day shows, surrre, but this is not an every-show occurance!! The show was great, the guys were on fire, the dancing was crazy, kilted guys were showing off, and the alcohol was pouring. After the show, Katie, Katya, Meg and I headed back to the apartment...and had a few guests arrive that night. Some friends of mine stopped by for a bit of Jack and Fireball...and it turned into a "not-going-to-bed-till-the-sun-comes-up" kinda night. Gotta love those.
*My actual New Years Eve wasn't nearly as eventful, but still fun. Amy, Katie, Meghan and I had rang in the new year at the apartment (watching Great Big Sea on the Niagra Falls special of course!) and then headed over to a house party. The party was odd, but we think that's just because we were seemingly the whole ones not drunk or high, lol. Luckily they had a fooseball table! YEAH!!! hahaha. Tres fun.
*I went to the Hard Rock Miners Sing-along at the Railway Club! Ohhh how I love those nights! I came straight from work, and I brought my sushi with me, hahaha. I had to use straws as chopsicks...yep. That's right. It was also a big sleepover that night too, with Meg and me having Katya, Katie and Amy crash at our place. At this point, Amy and Katie had spent 3 of the past 4 nights at our place....lol. Should we start charging a lodging fee?? hehe.
*Meg, Katie, Amy, the Elvidge Dad and I went to see TTP at the Junior Hockey FanFest. That's right. It was as odd as it sounds, lol. Sooo fun though! "Our" dad bought us girls a round of bevvies (aww), and we sat part time in the beer garden and part time in the very front row in the seats. Did I mention we were the only ones in the seats? Yeahhh. Everyone else was at the back looking at the Stanley Cup, or playing video game hockey. It was also a Wednesday afternoon...when most people need to be at work. Oh well, it was still fun and always great to see all those crazy friends.
*I went see Memoirs of a Geisha with a couple of girls I work with. So fun hanging out with them outside of work! The movie was really great though. I'd recommend it to anyone...well, almost anyone, lol. It was a bit long, but very sweet.
*This past weekend was Meg's birthday. HAPPY BIRTHDAY DARLIN'!!! She's all but 24 now. Sigh. Almost ready for her quarter life crisis ;) Hehe. We went out and partied like crazy people this weekend...so crazy, that I can't even go into details!!! Shocking...I know. Friday night, we went over to Duane and Ginny's for a few drinks and many laughs. Then we somehow ended up going to another friend's place for nachos and then just crashed there (I literally fell asleep on the couch, lol). Then on Saturday, Meg, the sisters and I all met up at the Squarerigger for drinks...then headed to the Collesium for lots more drinks, pizza and cake (I baked the cake with my aunt Cathy for Meg! heehee)....followed by somehow more shenanigans. Whew! Yadda, yadda, yadda....Didn't get home till after 10am the next day....wow. How we all managed to get through the day at work...I'll never know. It was quite possibly the birthday that Meg will remember the most.
And now, it's WAY too late for me to be awake and typing. Good lord. Hopefully that will keep you entertained dear blog (and loyal readers)...I'll hopefully get some pics up soon too - god knows I have enough of them! But for now, I'm off to bed. Sleep and work are the priorities for the week. Until Saturday. Then the crazyness will be un-paused. mwahahaha. ;)
g'nite....
