busy days are good for distraction

I'm honestly not in the mood to be writing anything right now, but I need a distraction - and at least this is a bit productive too.

I've been busy lately. It's amazing how your schedule can all of a sudden fill up...just when you need to. Katya helped me out lots last week: Earls for Margarita Monday, Central City for Long Islands on Thursday.

Then Friday...after me meeting up with the boy for a bit (went out for dinner and talked. Resolved some issues between us. Things went fabulously. Damn I'm gonna miss him.), we went to the Fleetwood Arms pub out here in Surrey, to see a local celtic band, Mutiny Gone Overboard. I'd met Paddy (who's in the band) a few weeks ago on my "north van adventure" night. Haha. Anyway, we go there, and Katie met up with us later. But who do we run into? None other than a guy we went to high school with! He was there with his dad and his brother. So sweet! We ended up sitting with them, and we all had a great time. Pear cider was the drink of choice that night (for me - Katya had beer! haha).

The guy we went to high school with (in the middle) with his dad and brother.

Saturday, well, it was shitty weather...so Katya and I met up at the mall and then headed to Chapters - I had a book to buy. Found the book, and steamed soy milk at Starbucks. A nice, relaxing night. We needed to rest up for Sunday though...

The book I bought.

It was a crazy day for me! I worked 7:30am-3:30pm. Came home, changed. My mom took me out to Coquitlam and met up with Kasha. I got in her car, and we drove to Granville Island. We went to the Backstage Lounge and met up with Amy, Katie, Michelle, Jaclyn, Sarah and Jeff. Oh yeah, and The Town Pants were playing there. Hahaha. We grabbed some dinner, and I had a margarita. Mmm. So girlie though! Not long after 6pm, we high-tailed it out of there...because...

Jeff and Sarah - T-shirt Twins.

It was Katya's final violin recital at UBC! Yay Katya! After getting a *teeny* bit lost on campus, we found the music building. Whew! Thanks to her brother for standing on the road for us to see him, LOL. Katya kicked ass at her recital. So amazing. She looked smokin' hot too. Reow ;) One of her little students opened for her - so cute!! There was a reception afterwards with yummy food (desserts, grapes, strawberries, little sandwiches, her mom's famous napoleon cake) and wine...mmm. I had a glass. It felt good (even though I'm not the biggest fan of wine...). After everything was cleaned up, Katya, her family, Kasha and I went to Central City for a drink. I had a Long Island. Gotta love mixing alcohol. Sigh. I collapsed on my bed when I got home.

The opener.

Worked Monday afternoon, and then that evening....went to the Blarney Stone! Awesome night. I drove out with Katya, Heather (yes, my sister!), her friend Jenn and Jenn's boy. When we got there, we met up with that guy we'd gone to high school with and his brother - so happy they came! Amy, Katie, Michelle, Jaclyn and my aunt Cathy came too! It was quite the crowd of us, lol. After many, many, MANY drinks...we played some pool. Haha. Speaking of the drinks...I have no freakin' clue how I drank so much. It must've been my aunt's influence...she bought me a couple...and then, oh yeah, there was my leaving my Visa at the bar for a tab...and then actually LEAVING the Blarney Stone...WITHOUT my credit card. Ooooooops.....I had to go back for it. I gave them a generous tip. Haha. The guys drove Heather, Katya and I home - so sweet of them. We must hang out more often. I must say that the next day, I had a bad hangover. My head was *pounding*. My tolerance has gone down sooo far. It's absurd!

Katie, Michelle, Amy, Jaclyn and me...The Town Pants girls. Heehee.

Heather and our aunt Cathy. Aww.

The Town Pants

Heather and I: drunk, on the way home. Hahahaha.

And now today. A day I don't want to be thinking about. I said my last goodbye to him. Gave him a gift. Came home and cried. And cried some more. Serious sobbing. I haven't cried this hard since February. My eyes are sore and swollen. I'm going to miss him more than I ever thought I could. He called me after leaving, and I couldn't even answer my phone. I was all choked up. I waited for him to leave a voicemail, and when he didn't, I took a deep breath and called him back. I think he knew I'd been/was crying though. It was an awkward conversation...lol. Oh well. I had some amazing times with him. Many highs and many lows. I'll miss that guy.

Going out drinking tomorrow night though. Watch out. (yes, this is me doing my best to force myself to get over him....sigh.)

I was going through some photos the other day, when I found some really cute ones...

Me and my aunt Cathy...trucker babes.

Me and my aunt Cathy...wandering in a field.

Heather and me...rockin' out with our cabbage patch kids. Heehee.

Cathy and my mom - sisters - camping in the rain. Delightful. Absolutely delightful this photo.

there's beauty in the breakdown

Well, it's over.

It has been for almost two weeks now. I'm not going into much detail about it though - it is a rather personal matter. He leaves in a week. We're over. Sigh. Just trying to let it all sink in. He's making it easy though...but I really don't want to start slandering his name here. He's still a good person, and hopefully we can keep in touch somehow. Another chapter in my life: done.

my day

7:30am - alarm goes off. A few minutes later I drag myself out of bed. Wash face, brush teeth, etc. Make up (went for some green shadow today) and got dressed in my work attire. Deoderent, hair. Grabbed some cheese, crackers and an apple.

8:15am - Left the house with mom - she was driving me to work.

8:23am - arrive at work. Get a short white mocha americano and a muffin. Eat/drink as much as possible before rushing to punch in. Damn morning lines...sigh.

8:30am - start work. Busy, busy, busy day. Two 15's and a 30 min break. Had a sandwich. Some iced tea lemondade and green tea.

4:30pm - Done work. Yipee! Called for a ride home (since it was raining) - no such luck. Boo. Walked home carrying my purse, tea, umbrella, work jacket and leftover food. Fun times.

4:47pm - Got home. Put on pj's. Brushed hair. Checked email.

5:45pm - Dinner time with mom (Heather was at work). Chicken, rice and raw veggies. Mmm. Wathed The Phantom of the Opera movie. OMG. AMAZING!!! I know the soundtrack (almost by heart), so it was fantastic watching it. Wow. Definitely considering buying it. Hmm..."sweet intoxication" - a line from a song in the musical...one of my favourite quotes.

8pm - Load the dishwasher. Clean up the kitchen. Talked with Katya on the phone. Layed on my bed in the dark and thought about some stuff. The sun was starting to set outside...it was gorgeous. Cried a bit. I'm emotional lately.

9pm - Time for Desperate Housewives. I love that show!

10pm - Grey's Anatomy. My new favourite show. I'm going to bed when it's over. I work at 6am tomorrow, and I need a shower before. Yay me and early mornings. LOL.

G'nite.

work, work and more work

Not too much to report over here...I've been working like crazy - 35+ hours this week! Crazy, but good. Wednesday was my only day off...sigh. That's okay, I get this Tuesday and Wednesday off too. Yay me. We got new t-shirts at work - for the latest Frappucino. "woohoo". No, it's nice having another t-shirt to wear though. That way you don't end up wearing a Christmas one in May....huh. (Yes, I've seen it happen folks!)

It's raining here today, and according to the Weather Network, it's supposed to rain for the next few days. Ah well - I'll be working anyway! haha.

Well, I better go blow dry my hair here...and yes, you guessed it: go to work!

are we grown ups now?

I've been a bad blogger. Sorry. I'll try to write more often. It's difficult to think of something to write though, when the thing(s) on your mind the most are things that you can't discuss here. Sucks, I know. LOL.

Congrats to Alison! Her sister had a little baby girl at 2:30am yesterday! Heehee...Auntie Alison...awww. Can't wait to see some pics.

I saw TTP last Friday...that was fun. I was feeling kinda icky though, so that wasn't fun. I couldn't even finish my cider...wtf?! Oh well. Spent the night in N.Van, and the next day I had the house to myself - my aunt, uncle and the boys had gone to the States for the day. I met up with Katya later on in English Bay. Went out for dinner and had a good (I think?) talk.

I feel like I'm growing up these days. Let's just hope I can enjoy being a 'kid' for a little bit longer...lol. One thing that's for sure - once August hits, I'll be looking for an apartment for Meg and me. I figure I should start looking then, since by the time September hits, all the good and cheap ones could be gone.

Think I'll head home now (I'm at SFU at the moment).

saturday night

Saturday was a little nutty.

After hanging out with Katya during the day, and witnessing the madness of the aftermath of the mall-blackout (hahaha), I finally made plans for that night. I was finally going to see TTP again...after a month and a half of not seeing them! Wow. Time flies.

I met up with Katie and Amy, and we drove to Mosquito Creek in North Vancouver. Our friend, Derek, was celebrating his birthday there. We thought we'd stop by to wish him well, and say hi to some others that we hadn't seen in quite some time. It was like deja vu. Here we were, in Mosquito Creek, surrounded by most of the people that helped make our "Monday nights" what they were. Sigh. Good times. Derek insisted we at least stay for a drink, so I ordered a pear cider, and we took some photos. Around 9:15pm, we took off.

Off to the Raven we went! After a few wrong turns...that led us to an elemantary school, and we had a 'killer' (inside joke) following us at one point too. We were laughing so hard. Well, I'll admit I was feeling the buzz from my cider, since I'd had hardly anything to eat all day, and I'd downed it (with a *bit* of help) in a matter of minutes. We arrived at the Raven at about 10pm. Maybe sooner.

We had arrived just in time to hear a handful of songs before the band's set break. We ordered some food (chicken fingers all around!), and I had a couple more ciders over the couple hours we were there. Chatted with the band. I got harassed for my absence lately (sorry!), and we all had a merry 'ol time. I took all of ONE photo, and it's pretty dark:

Well. I warned ya! haha.

Because the Raven closes super early, at midnight, we only got one more set of music from TTP. We had already decided that we'd head back to Derek's shindig since nothing would be going down after tonight's show. We said our goodbye's and told them we were going to the Mosquito Creek again. Well. A guy from another local Celtic band, Paddy of Mutiny Gone Overboard, was there with some friends - and they'd only just gotten there. So Duane (I think it was him anyway) told them that us girls (Amy, Katie and me) were heading to MC, and they could go with us. "Surrrre," we said. I called Derek just to make they were still there. Well. They weren't. Lol. The party had moved back to the Edgemont house.

Driving from the Raven to Mosquito Creek (MC):

We decided that we'd check out MC anyway. The 7 of us went there, and most of us had a drink. I had just finished my fourth cider of the night, it was about 1:55am, and MC closed at 2am. Paddy and his friends still had a WHOLE pitcher of beer left. OMG. Haha. They insisted I drink some. GROSS!, I said. But alas, I somehow drank a glass. Wow, I was w-a-s-t-e-d. We left there, and played convoy in the cars till we got to Derek's place a.k.a. The Edgemont House.

At Mosquito Creek:

We pulled up to the house, and Paddy and his friend Chris (the other 2 friends had gone home) walked up to the house with a case of beer. Hahaha. We walked in, and were greeted by various drunkards. Sigh. I knew almost everyone there, so all was good. We hung out, drank beer (ahem), watched Derek literally fall to the ground from being so drunk, played air hockey (kinda like fooseball), artfully avoided the guy who kept trying to feel me up, played DJ with the music on the computer, and sent some random text messages. Ahem.

I guess it was around 3am when we decided that we needed to leave. Others had already left, and everyone that was still there was too drunk to be fun anymore. It was retarded, haha. So after we got outside we looked at each other with a profound, "now what?". Yes, we could've gone home. Sure, we could've called it a night. But noooo. That's not our style! Since the five of us lived in either Coquitlam or Surrey, we really had nowhere to go. Hahaha. So. We all piled in Chris' car and drove to the nearest...playground.

We hung out there, went on the swings, down the slides, and then settled on one of the platforms. We drank beer and talked. We revealed way too much. It was crazyness. But just really fun and relaxing.

When we noticed the sky beginning to lighten up, hmm...around 4:30am...I think...we got back into the car, back to the Edgemont house, and then we said our goodbyes. Katie drove Amy and I back to their home, and we literally crashed on their california king bed. Wow. My head was spinnnniiiing.

Somehow, we did get some sleep. Amy had to work at 10am. Katie at 12pm. Me, well, haha, I got a ride home from my mom, stopped at Ikea and got home. I rested up till I had to start work at 7:45pm. That was a LONG shift. LOL. I was so tired and hungover all day. But it was worth it. It almost always is...

The Town Pants play this Friday at Taylor's Crossing. I'll be there. So will Amy and Katie. I think Paddy and Chris too. Huh. Wonder what that night will bring us...
