saturday night

Saturday was a little nutty.

After hanging out with Katya during the day, and witnessing the madness of the aftermath of the mall-blackout (hahaha), I finally made plans for that night. I was finally going to see TTP again...after a month and a half of not seeing them! Wow. Time flies.

I met up with Katie and Amy, and we drove to Mosquito Creek in North Vancouver. Our friend, Derek, was celebrating his birthday there. We thought we'd stop by to wish him well, and say hi to some others that we hadn't seen in quite some time. It was like deja vu. Here we were, in Mosquito Creek, surrounded by most of the people that helped make our "Monday nights" what they were. Sigh. Good times. Derek insisted we at least stay for a drink, so I ordered a pear cider, and we took some photos. Around 9:15pm, we took off.

Off to the Raven we went! After a few wrong turns...that led us to an elemantary school, and we had a 'killer' (inside joke) following us at one point too. We were laughing so hard. Well, I'll admit I was feeling the buzz from my cider, since I'd had hardly anything to eat all day, and I'd downed it (with a *bit* of help) in a matter of minutes. We arrived at the Raven at about 10pm. Maybe sooner.

We had arrived just in time to hear a handful of songs before the band's set break. We ordered some food (chicken fingers all around!), and I had a couple more ciders over the couple hours we were there. Chatted with the band. I got harassed for my absence lately (sorry!), and we all had a merry 'ol time. I took all of ONE photo, and it's pretty dark:

Well. I warned ya! haha.

Because the Raven closes super early, at midnight, we only got one more set of music from TTP. We had already decided that we'd head back to Derek's shindig since nothing would be going down after tonight's show. We said our goodbye's and told them we were going to the Mosquito Creek again. Well. A guy from another local Celtic band, Paddy of Mutiny Gone Overboard, was there with some friends - and they'd only just gotten there. So Duane (I think it was him anyway) told them that us girls (Amy, Katie and me) were heading to MC, and they could go with us. "Surrrre," we said. I called Derek just to make they were still there. Well. They weren't. Lol. The party had moved back to the Edgemont house.

Driving from the Raven to Mosquito Creek (MC):

We decided that we'd check out MC anyway. The 7 of us went there, and most of us had a drink. I had just finished my fourth cider of the night, it was about 1:55am, and MC closed at 2am. Paddy and his friends still had a WHOLE pitcher of beer left. OMG. Haha. They insisted I drink some. GROSS!, I said. But alas, I somehow drank a glass. Wow, I was w-a-s-t-e-d. We left there, and played convoy in the cars till we got to Derek's place a.k.a. The Edgemont House.

At Mosquito Creek:

We pulled up to the house, and Paddy and his friend Chris (the other 2 friends had gone home) walked up to the house with a case of beer. Hahaha. We walked in, and were greeted by various drunkards. Sigh. I knew almost everyone there, so all was good. We hung out, drank beer (ahem), watched Derek literally fall to the ground from being so drunk, played air hockey (kinda like fooseball), artfully avoided the guy who kept trying to feel me up, played DJ with the music on the computer, and sent some random text messages. Ahem.

I guess it was around 3am when we decided that we needed to leave. Others had already left, and everyone that was still there was too drunk to be fun anymore. It was retarded, haha. So after we got outside we looked at each other with a profound, "now what?". Yes, we could've gone home. Sure, we could've called it a night. But noooo. That's not our style! Since the five of us lived in either Coquitlam or Surrey, we really had nowhere to go. Hahaha. So. We all piled in Chris' car and drove to the nearest...playground.

We hung out there, went on the swings, down the slides, and then settled on one of the platforms. We drank beer and talked. We revealed way too much. It was crazyness. But just really fun and relaxing.

When we noticed the sky beginning to lighten up, hmm...around 4:30am...I think...we got back into the car, back to the Edgemont house, and then we said our goodbyes. Katie drove Amy and I back to their home, and we literally crashed on their california king bed. Wow. My head was spinnnniiiing.

Somehow, we did get some sleep. Amy had to work at 10am. Katie at 12pm. Me, well, haha, I got a ride home from my mom, stopped at Ikea and got home. I rested up till I had to start work at 7:45pm. That was a LONG shift. LOL. I was so tired and hungover all day. But it was worth it. It almost always is...

The Town Pants play this Friday at Taylor's Crossing. I'll be there. So will Amy and Katie. I think Paddy and Chris too. Huh. Wonder what that night will bring us...
