past few days
Damn.
I was going to try and write more in here. I guess a few times a month is now the current goal...lol.
I'm drinking tea right now. Passion tea. Mmm. Just plain. It doesn't need anything added to it. Meg's asleep. She has to wake up early tomorrow morning...she's flying home for a much needed visit. She'll be gone for a week...it's going to be quiet around here. It's always different when she's gone. Makes me think about what it would be like if I lived alone. I don't know if I'd like it or not yet. The jury is still out on that one. I'm afraid I'd become a hermit and start rocking in the corner...hahaha. Nah. I'd be okay. I think.
We went to the Hard Rock Miner's Singalong tonight at the Railway Club. It was the 10th Anniversary of them. It was also Amy's 21st Birthday. :) It was fun...it would've been funner (is that a word?) if a) I had money to buy drinks and b) I wasn't still sick and c) I had a voice to actually sing with. Still a good time. How could it not be with all the fabulous people? Amy, Katie, Greg, Meg, Andrea, Aaron, Eric...and all the other guys. Also, when did I become more comfortable going to the Railway on the weekend when all the sketchy people come out...compared to the singalongs that have been taken over by university students? Hmm.
Yesterday was an icky day. We spent the day in our pj's, watching tv and generally feeling sorry for ourselves. Gotta love self-pity. Haha. We didn't even leave the house on Sunday. It was a sad state around here. But it helped us. We obviously needed some down time. We were super sick...could hardly talk. The night before probably didn't help...
It was Katya's birthday! After a challenging time getting ready to go (so much nose blowing and coughing), and delays due to us (missing a bus) and Kasha (forgetting her cell phone in a Starbucks' bathroom), we finally got to the Yaletown Brewing Co. just before 8pm...ooops. Everything worked out though. Had some yummy pizza and then we headed over to the Backstage Lounge. Candice and Jenny came - I hadn't seen them in ages. It was nice seeing them again. Chrissy and Devon came. And of course Meg and Kasha. We saw a great band play at the Backstage Lounge - Like a Storm - Katya's becoming a huge fan of theirs, so it was great that we got to see them play for her birthday. Yay! Around 1am, Kasha, Meg and I took off and were headed for home when Katie called...she wanted to meet up with us at the Railway for a bit. Oy. Something to do with a boy she'd had her eye on. Haha. She promised she'd drive us home after too. Okay fine, we'd come. We go to the Railway and it was like home. *grin* First we see Stuart, hahaha. Ohhh Stuart. Aaron and Steve made fun of my lack of a voice (anyone that knows Steve knows how cool that was! haha)...and of course the lovely Eric was there. Hehe. And some others too. Even the guy from Hot Hot Heat with the big hair. Haha. It was funny, a friend of his had come up to us girls and was flirting with us. He said "I'm hear with one of the guys' from Hot Hot Heat!" we were like "Oh yeahhh..." and then he wandered off to find him. I told Meg and Katie "I only know the one with the big hair! And I doubt it's him." Well. It was him. Hahaha. Too funny. So this whole time, Katie had been texting with this "boy" she's had her eyes on...turns out he's not coming to the Railway anymore (shizzah!), but he IS going to be at an after party that us girls are invited to. HMMM. Did we go? Of course we did. Hahaha. We find ourselves trying to find some place off Kingsway at 4am...oyvey. We did. We had fun. We saw Trevor (Michelle's boyfriend). He'd had his band's cd release that night (the band is called Karmakanix)...it was fun times. Didn't get home and to sleep until 6am. Shit.
Fun times are sometimes worth a sacrifice though.
I'm gonna post some photos that go with all this in my next post...
