U2 in Vancouver

Yes. I was one of those lucky people that got a ticket to see U2 in Vancouver. Actually, I didn't even buy it...Erin bought them and I got one of them. Yay Erin!! I went Thursday night with her, Alison and Christine. The show was freakin' amazing. I was on the floor - about 20 rows of standing people from the walkway that the band would come out onto. Besides the close body contact and pushy people, it was awesome. I bought a t-shirt, poster and little button. Yes, I'm a dork. LOL. But c'mon! It was freakin' U2!!! I didn't bring my camera (although I reallllly wish I had...boo!) - so no photos from Thursday night. Afterwards, three of us went to Boston Pizza for a very late dinner. Good times! I was so thankful I'd gotten to see U2...and couldn't wait for the next time.

I never, in a million years, would've thought it would come so soon.

Yes. That's right.

I went to see U2 on Friday as well.

I started work at 11:15am Friday morning, and not long after arriving I discovered that a co-worker/friend of mine (the ever-so-fabulous Sarah) had an extra ticket for that night's show. I told her "you suck!" and she said something along the lines of, "no, I'm serious. I don't know who's going to use it or what I'm going to do with it". I shook my head and walked back onto the floor (we were in the backroom then). It then occured to me that even if I wanted to see U2 - I couldn't. I didn't finish work until 7:15pm, and the show started at 7:30pm. I told her that and then she asked if I could end earlier, would I go? Bingo. The million dollar question. Less than 10 minutes later, I had found someone to work later so I could end earlier. OMFG. I was going to see U2. AGAIN!

This time, I had about 5 minutes to get ready (while Sarah waited in my living room), and I brought my camera. Oh yes. I wasn't going to be camera-less tonight! I took 75 pictures and 5 short videos. Weeeeeeeeeeeeeee!!! If anyone wants to see any of the videos, just let me know and I'll email you the link to access them. They're freakin' awesome!!!

U2 rocks. That's all there is to it.

Sigh. Simply amazing.

I...

I AM: moi

I WANT: to go out for a walk and morning coffee...it's so beautiful outside!

I HAVE: several freckles on my arms from being out in the sun yesterday.

I FEEL: a bit groggy still. I'm tired. LOL.

I WISH: things could be different

I HATE: that I'm being left...again.

I MISS: summertime during high school - you didn't have to worry about jobs, your future, complicated relationships...sigh.

I FEAR: uncertainty.

I HEAR: birds singing outside...and my cat meowing at them.

I SEE: the most amazing blue sky.

I WONDER: where I'll be in 5 years, 1 year, 6 months...

I REALIZE: that people enter and leave your life all the time, and that's normal.

I REGRET:

I LOVE: greek salad...seriously. The cucumbers, tomatoes, peppers, basil, fets...mmm...

I ALWAYS: remember to smile :)

I DANCE: when I'm home alone wearing sexy lingerie.

I SING: when nobody is listening.

I CRY: so easily. Movies are deadly...

I AM NOT ALWAYS: a nice person.

I LOST: my desire to attend church...yes. It's true. I've become one of those Christians that don't actually go to church...somehow I think I'll survive.

I NEED: a place of my own.

I SHOULD: go outside.

I CANNOT: wait to see U2 on Thursday....weeeeeeeeeeeee!!!

I CRAVE: stability.

I LIKE TO BE: just me.

george & english bay

So...on Monday, Katya and I went to see George Stroumboulopoulos' show The Hour. It was tres fun! If you watched the show, you would have seen Katya and I in the audience. hehe. I took some photos that day, and you can check them out at Flickr on the right here. I had a fantastic time at The Hour taping (even though it's shown live...but I guess you'd still call it a 'taping'...hmm), and George is the nicest guy!

me and George...sigh.

After The Hour, Katya and I went to English Bay for dinner and drinks. I love it there. If I had more money, I'd move there in an instant.

English Bay

I worked all day yesterday and today. Someone asked us at work today, "are you making Frappucinos now?" OMFG. YES. It felt like we'd stopped making hot drinks for parts of the day! So retarded. LOL.

The dreaded caramel frappucino.

I'm exhausted now...and I'm going to have some tea and head off to bed.

g'nite kids.

wow, twice in one day

omg. Sooo...a bit crazy at work today. Schedule issues, running out of lids, a shift from a different store...yeah...fun times! Haha. Hopefully closing goes well for them...it should, they rock. A customer actually told me I was awesome today. How sweet is that? Sigh. People can surprise me.

I walked home from work, and there was lightning! omg. So freaky! I stopped at Taco Del Mar for some dinner - I ate it at home though, in my pajamas. Hahaha.

I watched the end of The Wedding Planner and Desperate Housewives - I LOVE that show!

I think I'll go make some tea now and go relax in bed. I should catch up on some emails...buuut...eh. I'll do that tomorrow.

randomness

Let's see...I've worked this week, written some letters, met up with friends...nothing unusual. I went and saw Beauty Shop with Katya last night = it was funny. Heather is sick: strep throat. Poor girl :( The weather has been retarded. Yesterday at work, if you looked out one side of the building (we have windows on 3 sides of it) it was pooring with rain...and then looked out the opposite side: beautiful, sunny day. WTF?! It was weird. LOL.

My mom is at the Vancouver Sun Run today - she's walking with a friend of hers. Good for them. Heather is on the couch - going on about how she's "ready not to be sick anymore." And my eyes are super tired and I'm waiting for my water to boil for my tea. (Yes, I'm addicted to tea...).

Alright, this is such a crappy blog...just not much to write about today...I'll try and do better in the future. LOL.

a yummy london fog, a cold dark forest, and some quality time at home...sigh.

Well, today was a pleasant one.

I went to a Starbucks/Chapters with a friend, and had a London Fog (you know...that whole earl grey tea/steamed milk/vanilla syrup concoction...). We talked a bunch and I had a great time.

Then we looked around Winners a bit (we were both unsuccessful), and left the shopping centre. Hoping to just come across a park of some sort, we just drove...haha...then we saw some cars parked on the side of the road, and a park sign! Woohoo! Yeah. Don't get too excited. We parked and walked through this forest a bit...but it was ALL forest. I mean, nothing exciting and my feet were getting dirty and cold! We saw a man ride by on his horse ("I saw a real life cowboy mama!" lmao), a jogger, and a guy on his bike. Then there was us. The odd ones. Simply walking along the trail. Sigh. We quickly turned around and went back to the car. Thus ended our adventures of the day.

I came home and relaxed a bit. Heather came home and we watched Oprah and various afternoon programming. I put on K-os really loud and danced. I had some crackers and dip (you know what I'm talkin' about Katya! hehe.) I made plans with a friend to go out for dinner, and then she cancelled on me, but with a completely valid reason! I watched part of a Larry King Live interview with Queen Noor of Jordan, and then headed to White Spot for dinner with my mom. After dinner, I bought a few t-shirts for work at Mark's Work Warehouse (yeah, I know, the irony of that...work....work warehouse...yeah, ok, I'll stop talking now...), we rented Sideways and headed home.

I think I'll go get in my pj's now and relax with my mom and the movie. And have some tea. Mmm.

G'nite everyone.

just another rainy day in vancouver town

Today I ventured up to SFU, the Burnaby campus up on the mountain. It was so empty today, since classes are over and exams have only just begun. I looked around the convocation mall, and it hit me: I've just finished four years here. Wow. I may not be graduating right now, but I've spent countless hours up there at school. So many memories there.

After I left SFU, I met up with Katya at Metrotown. She had to buy some soap for her dad (yes, you read that correctly), and I had some tuna on a bagel. I was starving! Then we grabbed steamed almond soy milks, and headed back home. We tried to go to A&B Sound - but alas, it was closed. We ran back through the rain and grabbed the bus to the Superstore (we are SO cool!). I bought the K-os cd and the soundtrack to Garden State. I was so happy!!! We bought some snacks too and then went and hung out at Katya's place. Good times, good times. Felt kinda like we were back in high school...just far more independent. It felt good.

Well, it's late and nobody (and I mean NOBODY) is on msn right now, so I'm going to head off to bed. Looking forward to tomorrow...fingers crossed for sun.

muddy grass, okay music, $3 cider, yummy donuts, lots of friends = ACF

So ACF was yesterday. It ROCKED! I partied it up with Katya, Meliza, Sarah, Regina and saw so many others that I knew (or others in my group knew!) - Michele, Randy, Chrissi, Kevin & Ryan from JH (Yeahh!), Sarah M. from work (and her bf Wayne). Yep - it was insane. I had a few drinks...far less than most people. Mini donuts were had too. Mmm. Met lots of new "friends"....hehehe. The music was alright, but the biggest disappointment of all was K-os. I was really looking forward to hearing him, but the crowd was nuts and pushing everyone. When Katya and I finally got out of the crazyness by the stage, we made the choice to use the porta-potties. Ew. Haha. Everyone was banging on the doors and yelling "HURRY UP!!!" (which of course Katya and I did too....lmao.) Regina took some photos, so I'll post some of those when I get them. The grass was totally muddy too, but somehow everything worked out great. Looking forward to next year.

Afterwards, Meliza and I went and got food from the Pita Pit, and man, when I sat down...it was amazing. I hadn't sat since 1pm!!! After I got home, I just crashed.

I'm just glad it didn't rain. Yay for sunshine!

arts county fair tomorrow!

Yes, it really is almost 2am. Why am I still awake? Well, 1) I worked tonight, so I'm still quite caffeinated. 2) I forgot that I needed to do a load of laundry, so I had to wait for the wash to finish, so then I could put everything into the dryer. I just put the clothes in the dryer now. 3) There is a REALLY loud truck outside, and it has a huge hose on it...I'm not sure what it's for, but it also has a flashing orange light. WTF?! Anyone know? haha. One of my neighbours (Katya, Candice and Alison may remember her from a certain party I had at my house last summer..."are you parents home Christine??" lmao.) is outside demanding to know what is going on. Hopefully she can find out, and my mom can talk to her tomorrow and then let me know. Yep, that's how it works. lol.

Classes are finished for this semester! YES! It was a difficult semester to get through, but I somehow did it and now I only have a couple of exams...and then that's IT till September. Yessss!

Tomorrow I'm going to Arts County Fair at UBC.

It's the 14th year that UBC has had ACF, but my first time going. I'm quite excited. Arts County Fair is the largest student-run event in Canada.

It combines five amazing bands, 500 kegs of beer, 6000 litres of cider and 15,000 people to produce what the organizers call "an experiment in crowd control."

Held on the last day of classes, the fair is an all ages show anticipated by students from across BC, and by the public in general. It's a great way to gather people of all sorts together with a common goal: fun.

http://www.artscountyfair.com Check it out - lots 'o fun and crazyness! I'm the most excited about seeing K-os! You knowwww....the "Crabbuckit" song...and "the man i used to be" - should be AWESOME!!!

K-os

Other people that are performing are:

Matthew Good

Metric

Stabilo

and

Tupelo Honey

Just want to point out that my cat is now growling at that truck outside. Hehe. Too cute.

Annnyway, off to bed now. Fingers crossed for not too much (or none) rain tomorrow...!!

velvet revolver & sin city

Oh Katya.

What would I do without her? The past couple of days, I've been doing things that she loves (or talked me into doing).

Thursday: I went to FoxFest here in Vancouver. Velvet Revolver was headlining, Three Days Grace opened. Wow. It was a ROCK CONCERT! Flashy lights, tight leather pants, screaming singers, mosh pit down below, pot-smoking crowd - it was insane. I had a good time...or I should say: I warmed up to it. I still prefer my music. But every once in awhile a good ol' fashioned rock concert is good for the blood.

Friday: I saw Sin City. http://www.sincitythemovie.com/ Check it out. Cool website.

It's visually amazing. Very graphic and gory (white AND yellow AND red blood...) - but still worth seeing. It's not really something that I can describe, I'd say just go and see it and then we'll talk. After the movie, the four of us walked out of the theatre in a state of shock. We weren't really sure what to say. What had we just witnessed on the big screen? What was that??

Adapted from Frank Miller's graphic novels, SIN CITY uses a unique combination of black & white and color for a dazzling look. A film noir infused with fantasy, Hartigan (Bruce Willis) is a cop who oversees a city filled with demons, players, and criminals (Benicio Del Toro, Mickey Rourke, Clive Owen, and more) along with angels, strippers, and vixens (Jessica Alba, Rosario Dawson, Brittany Murphy, and more). This Robert Rodriguez-directed film is loaded with style and grit.

After the movie, we met up with some other friends and went out for a drink. Had a good time...hopefully we'll do it again sometime - different place though. Nothing against Red Robin, haha, but a bit too child-friendly for us right now.

Saturday: Okay, not so "just" Katya, lol. I joined her and Candice at the end of their walk, and then we went to the mall for a bit. Had a nice talk at Bread Garden. Met up with someone else briefly for coffee, then I headed home for dinner. Ordered in Chinese food. It was alright...but I've had better. I usually like the honey-garlic chicken...but it was rather dry tonight. I think now, I'll go and put my pj's on, relax with some tea, and watch the ol' tv. I work tomorrow morning though, and with the time change I won't be up late.

Cheerio,

xo C.
